How to make one

1. Open the template. The SVG opens in GIMP, Photoshop, Affinity and Illustrator with the guide on its own layer; the PNG is the same picture flattened.
2. Paint your paper on a layer under the guide: colour, texture, a logo, a border, whatever your country looks like. No text where the dashed boxes are, because the overlay writes there, over your picture.
3. Hide or delete the guide layer and export a PNG at exactly 1120 × 680. Any other size is refused, because the picture is painted edge to edge and would stretch.
4. In the Port of Entry, under Document style, upload it on the Artwork row. Your ink and accent colours and your typeface still apply, and you will see them on the picture in the preview at once. Save.
5. Under Duty Free, add the saved design as a skin with a price, or a rung it is free from.

What the artwork switches off

While a picture is on, three layers that would paint over it are held off: the ornament strip, the motion layer, and the header's ground (the header is printed clear, straight onto the picture). Everything else is still yours to choose: the three colours, the typeface, the script, the seal and its legend, and the footer. A skin never animates; motion is for plain documents.

The back

The document has two faces and they are not the same shape of thing. The front is the one with the portrait, the fields and the signature. The back is the visa page: stamps, and the lines a channel writes on them.

So the back takes a picture of its own, uploaded on the row under Artwork in the Port of Entry, painted on this same template at 1120 × 680. It is a separate picture on purpose. A design laid out to frame the portrait has nothing to frame on a face with no portrait, and an outline drawn round one lands across the middle of the other.

Leave it empty and the back is your paper colour, plain. It is never the front's picture.

The photo frame

A second, smaller template: the photograph's box, 236 × 304 (it is 118 × 152 on the card). Paint a frame on a transparent canvas, leave the middle clear so the face shows through, hide the guide and export a PNG with transparency at exactly 236 × 304. It is painted over the photograph, edge to edge. Upload it under Duty Free when you add a frame item; the same upload takes both sizes and sorts them by size.

Rules

• PNG only, 1120 × 680 (or 560 × 340), under 2MB. Twelve pictures per channel.
• Keep the dashed areas legible in your ink colour: the labels there are 8 to 10 pixels tall on the card.
• A picture cannot be deleted while a skin on your shelf or on somebody's receipt uses it. Take the skin off the shelf first; what people already own keeps it.
• Your picture is served from this site only. A skin can never point at an outside image.
